WE ARE JUST GETTING STARTED...
Historically Black Colleges & Universities* were established as early as 1837 for former slaves and freedman. HBCU*s served as meeting places during the civil rights struggles of the 1900s and contain repositories of important buildings, books, papers and memorabilia of Black history.
THERE ARE OVER 100 HBCUs IN THE USA... 14 of them are in Alabama-- & every one of the 14 Alabama HBCUs has untapped global potential.

THE ALABAMA HBCU CONSORTIUM is a registered 501c3 in the State of Alabama committed to development of a ten-year strategic assessment of physical, academic and economic development goals for the 14 HBCUs throughout the State of Alabama, that include: Alabama A&M University • Alabama State University • Bishop State Community College • • Gadsden State Community College • H. Councill Trenholm State Technical College • J.F. Drake State Community and Technical College • Lawson State Community College Birmingham • Miles College • Oakwood University • Selma University • Shelton State Community College • Stillman College • Talladega College • Tuskegee University .
